Big Plans for SAF
So, with this new website already receiving rave reviews and increased traffic, we thought it would be a good time to mention some of the things we’re planning and working towards in the near future.
As one of the only organizations in the world fighting specifically against young-onset Alzheimer’s, the responsibility to do more, help more, and be more falls to us. Here are just a few of the items that we hope to make some major progress on in the coming year.
1. A Caregiver Training Facility
SAF would like to provide future or current caregivers with the education, experience, and assistance they’ll need to effectively care for their family member of friend. Our hope is to offer classes and education for no fee in an effort to fully prepare them for their responsibilities and challenges. The classes will cover everything from basic tips to help make a caregiver’s day-to-day efforts easier, to basic medical knowledge for emergencies, to stress reduction techniques to help them cope with the tougher days. The facilities will be located in Denver, but our hope is to provide an option for state-of-the-art online courses, as well as live streaming of the classes.
2. National Awareness Campaign
Have you seen the “Take Time to be a Dad” commercials? They’re funny, they’re educational, and they’re motivational. We hope that millions will someday say the same things about our ads. If people knew more about Alzheimer’s, they’d do more about Alzheimer’s. How will they know if we don’t tell them?
3. YOAD Documentary
We’ve recently planted the seed with some powerful and influential people who may be willing and able to help us produce a feature-length documentary. The film will take a detailed look at YOAD, and the impact the disease has on the victim, the caregivers, and the extended family.
4. Caregiver Grant Program
Everything we do is with the caregivers in mind. In just our first year, we’ve found numerous examples of families who were in danger of losing their homes or cars, their entire savings, and their hope for the future. Our hope is to be able to offer YOAD families in need as much as $10,000 in grants to help them maintain their way of life while also continuing to provide the best possible care for their loved one.
Now, as you might guess, none of this is free. That’s why we need your support. Please, consider giving today, and helping us achieve these goals – all of which will help us win this fight against YOAD.
Thank you for standing in our corner!
