Nate “The Great” Marquardt
What does it normally take to get a nationally-known, top-ranked UFC fighter to not only endorse, but also to actively support your organization?
Well, it normally takes appearance fees. It normally takes autograph fees. It normally takes arm-twisting. It normally takes a miracle.
Luckily for the Sharon Antcliff Foundation, Nate Marquardt isn’t your normal UFC superstar.
It was a hail mary in June of 2009. We contacted Nate – through Facebook – and asked that he consider helping a young non-profit get it’s feet wet in the world of mixed martial arts. In less than 24 hours, Nate, who was preparing for a fight, replied to us and said “as long as it doesn’t take away time from training or my family, I’m in.”
That was it. No questions asked, one of the premier fighters of in the UFC was in our corner.
Since then, Nate has been directly responsible for the Sharon Antcliff Foundation receiving thousands of dollars in donations, and hundreds of new fans and supporters. It’s not too dramatic to say that without Nate Marquardt, SAF wouldn’t be here today.
The Sharon Antcliff Foundation isn’t ashamed to say that Nate is our favorite fighter, not just because of his power, strength, or class, but because of his support of an organization that truly needed it.
Nate “The Great” Marquardt is our foundation’s first True Warrior, and we’re forever thankful for all he’s done for us!
